Sadaqah Jariyah

Charity that continues after we depart

Sadaqah Jariyah (‘flowing charity’) is any deed whose goodness continues—from a well villagers drink from, to a child who learns Qur’an because you funded her classroom. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, taught that certain deeds keep benefiting a believer after death; the foundation aligns projects with those enduring categories.

Classrooms where Qur’an and vocational skills coexist

Shelter stipends paired with safeguarding for orphaned families

“Among the deeds a believer continues to benefit from after his death are knowledge which he taught and circulated, upright offspring who supplicate for him…” Reported by Muslim

Zakat — quick orientation

Illustrative only (not a religious ruling)

Many schools teach roughly 2.5% of zakatable wealth above the nisab once a lunar year has passed on eligible assets (cash, gold, trade goods, and more — subject to your madhhab and circumstances). Debts and immediate essentials may reduce what is due. Always confirm with a qualified scholar or a calculator you trust before you give.

  • Inventory cash, bank balances, gold/silver weight, business stock, and receivables you expect to collect.
  • Subtract short-term debts that are due now; confirm what your school counts.
  • Check today's nisab in your currency from a reputable Islamic finance or scholarly source.
  • When donating here, label Zakat clearly so we can segregate distribution channels.

Quick Zakat estimator

Enter round numbers in GBP (£). This is a mathematical aid only — it does not decide what is zakatable, which debts deduct, or your lunar year. Confirm with a qualified scholar.

Illustrative 2.5% on full net (not normal fiqh) £0.00

Zakat is usually 2.5% only on the portion above nisab. Add a nisab figure above for a closer desk estimate — still not a ruling.

Khurshid-Aslam Foundation does not issue religious verdicts. Rates, categories, and timing follow your school and local guidance.

For personalised advice, speak to your imam or advisor — we can explain how we allocate Zakat at the board level on request.

Those who spend their wealth in charity by night and by day, secretly and openly—they shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
Qur'an 2:274
When the human being dies, his deeds come to an end except three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.
Sahih Muslim

Ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah) continues to benefit after we return to Allah.

The believers in their mutual kindness, compassion, and sympathy are like one body.
Sahih al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim
